About My Clients
Does this sound like you? You have a strong desire to succeed, a harsh inner critic, and you worry a lot. Or perhaps you identify as a perfectionist, a people pleaser and/or a high achiever (maybe all three). These traits have likely led to success both professionally and personally. But you can also get caught in a cycle of relentless striving, where your fear of failure and desire for perfection lead you to overwork, overcommit, and neglect your own well-being and eventually burn out.
My Background and Approach
You will enjoy working with me if any of this resonates with you. You worked beyond the surface level issues and have already learned some basic coping skills. But you are ready to become more self-aware and explore the meaning of things you may have started to uncover in previous sessions. You are open to being vulnerable or uncomfortable if it means gaining more self-awareness because you are committed to growth. My style of therapy with a little added humor can help you navigate life’s challenges with better self-awareness. I mostly use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. This combination of therapy can be helpful for many issues but especially burn out. ACT gives you the tools to heal from burn out and prevent it, while psychodynamic approaches help you realize how and why you got burnt out.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Here are some other things I’m comfortable sharing about myself that may help you get to know me better but that also shapes who I am personally and professionally: I grew up in a two-stoplight town in Upstate New York (seriously, only 2 stoplights). Moving to Chicago for grad school was hard but one of the best decisions I have ever made. I’m a little bit Latina but I regrettably can’t speak Spanish. My dad came out when I was a teenager and I’m very proud to be an ally to the LGBTQ community. I’m child free by choice and I’m unsurprisingly obsessed with my dog. I unwind by cooking or watching Bravo.
