About My Clients
Do you often find yourself struggling to find the words to describe how you are feeling or thinking? Maybe words are not enough or simply too much? Together my clients and I slowly tap into our creative capacities to uncover what is otherwise unsaid or difficult to verbalize. My clients vary across the lifespan, abilities, and cultures and can experience symptoms of complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, psychosis, and borderline personality disorder.
My Background and Approach
As a licensed creative arts therapist I integrate a range of modalities from drama, music and movement therapies with psychodynamic talk therapy in my care. This can look like using the beats of a drum to regulate a moment of anxiety or talking through unmanageable life stressors. In the past, I have provided therapeutic care in inpatient psychiatry, partial hospitalization, outpatient chemical dependency, and with asylum seekers and their families. Having witnessed the continuity of care across communities, my approach is trauma-informed, holistic, collaborative, and culturally responsive.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am influenced deeply by a strengths-based and liberation psychology framework. I believe that health is not only the absence of disease, but rather it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. I center the role of socio-cultural relations and systems both in the creation and alleviation of our mental health by being a partner in crisis and joy.
