About My Clients
I support my clients in a way that honors their goals and ensures that their autonomy and needs are at the center of our work together. This approach allows me to work with people from various different backgrounds and experiences. While I primarily work with eating disorders, I have experience working with a range of mental health concerns. What I'm most passionate about is the relational work of therapy, so if that sounds like something you're interested in - reach out for an intro call!
My Background and Approach
I am supervised by a licensed therapist who specializes in eating disorders and OCD. I have 4 years of experience working with eating and mood disorders across various levels of care. I have also worked in community mental health and an emergency shelter for survivors of intimate partner violence. I tailor my approach to therapy just for you, though I tend to gravitate toward ACT, IFS, and Narrative Therapy. Grounded in attachment, feminist, and critical race theories, I prioritize a compassionate, relational approach to support your autonomy and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply committed to anti-oppressive practice and lifelong learning in my work as a therapist. I recognize that my privileged identities—such as Whiteness, thinness, and physical ability—afford me unearned advantages and power in various settings, including mental health spaces. I am aware that these privileges can impact how I am perceived and the dynamics within the therapeutic relationship. My personal experiences with stigmatization have deepened my empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by other marginalized individuals. Nevertheless, I am mindful that I cannot fully grasp another person's experience and therefore strive to remain attentive to issues of power and oppression in our work together.
