About My Clients
My own eating disorder experience and recovery fuels my commitment to supporting others through similar struggles. I understand how complicated it can be and strongly believe in the healing power of working with someone who truly 'gets it.' I’m here to support you in a way that honors your goals—whether it’s recovery, harm reduction, or symptom management—while ensuring your autonomy and needs are at the center of our work together.
My Background and Approach
I am supervised by a licensed therapist who specializes in eating disorders and OCD. I have 4 years of experience working with eating and mood disorders across various levels of care. I have also worked in community mental health and an emergency shelter for survivors of intimate partner violence. I tailor my approach to therapy just for you, blending evidence-based modalities with techniques from IFS, Narrative Therapy, and somatic practices. Grounded in attachment, feminist, and critical race theories, I prioritize a compassionate, relational approach to support your autonomy and healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am deeply committed to anti-oppressive practice and lifelong learning in my work as a therapist. I recognize that my privileged identities—such as Whiteness, thinness, and physical ability—afford me unearned advantages and power in various settings, including mental health spaces. I am aware that these privileges can impact how I am perceived and the dynamics within the therapeutic relationship. My personal experiences with stigmatization have deepened my empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by other marginalized individuals. Nevertheless, I am mindful that I cannot fully grasp another person's experience and therefore strive to remain attentive to issues of power and oppression in our work together.
