Let's face it: teens today experience unique pressures and struggles in their daily lives. Working with a teen comes with its own challenges, too. What are they motivated by? What do they hope to gain from therapy? How are their coping skills in line with their emotional and physical development? In my work with teens, I work from a strengths based perspective and focus on working together while empowering them to foster independence.

I've heard depression described as foggy goggles that you can't take off. These goggles affect the view of most everything around; relationships with others, yourself, the motivation to change any of it. Sometimes there is a catalyst event, and other times we may just start to feel differently. When working with depression, I take a collaborative approach to explore the values in your life that keep you going. I utilize evidence based interventions to help you regain yourself and your life.

Anxiety can range from a fleeting worrisome thought to all-encompassing physical sensations. It doesn't only affect the mind, but also the body. Through a combined approach, I utilize cognitive strategies and somatic based coping skills to help my clients walk through and gain victory over anxiety. Oftentimes the most difficult part is taking the step towards anxiety; yet this is how we move through it.

Cognitive behavioral therapy examines the connection between your mind, body, and actions. The goal is to create awareness and empowerment in whatever situation you find yourself in, through evidence based interventions.

Acceptance and commitment therapy focuses on your agency in living a life after your values. Through specific interventions, we will work together to accept what we cannot change and to move towards the areas that are most important in your life.
