About My Clients
Finally choosing yourself by leaving an abusive group or relationship may be the hardest thing you ever do. You may feel overwhelmed with daily life, confused about who you truly are, or ashamed of what you had to endure to survive. Whether you left a high-demand group (like the LDS Church), escaped domestic violence, or endured childhood abuse, you deserve to be truly free from what you have overcome. I would be honored to support you on your journey back to yourself.
My Background and Approach
I use a trauma-informed, relational approach with all my clients, regardless of what brings you to therapy. I will support you as we make sense of the past and assist you in rebuilding a healthy relationship with yourself so that you feel strong, empowered, and confident that your life is truly your own. Therapy with me is always focused on increasing how safe you feel in your mind and body so that you are free to build the life you dream of and feel confident being your true, authentic self. I am an EMDR therapist and frequently integrate this powerful trauma-reprocessing modality into the work I do to help my clients heal from religious, relational, and sexual trauma. I also utilize IFS (parts work therapy) to help my clients discover who they really are inside, build self-esteem, and gain confidence and hope for their future.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As an intersectional feminist, I do not take a neutral stance on social justice issues. You can expect me to be affirming to all gender identities and sexual orientations. You can also expect me to acknowledge white supremacy and other systems of oppression that affect us all. I am comfortable discussing race and ethnicity with my clients and always acknowledge that my whiteness shows up in the room with me. As a therapist I will highlight the systems of oppression that may be contributing to your pain to make sure you aren’t internalizing harmful narratives that none of us have any business believing anymore.
