About My Clients
Children and adults experiencing grief, Couples in all stages of life and those experiencing break-up ambivalence, and Individuals who seek help in understanding, setting, and maintaining boundaries. I provide bilingual therapy services in Spanish.
My Background and Approach
One theory that I practice from is called Attachment Theory. Attachment Theory posits that humans have an inherent need to bond with their caregiver(s) as children. These bonds influence the way that humans later interact with other humans, especially in intimate relationships. Some areas that we might touch on in therapy include: attachment ruptures or traumas, attachment behaviors, and attachment styles. The goal of attachment therapy is to address the restricting effects of early negative attachment experiences and build on the ability to move through the world with a greater capacity to form secure bonds with others and self. In my work with couples, I often integrate Attachment Theory with Gottman Theory, which is rooted in research-based interventions and provides opportunities for couples to learn through assessments. Learn more about The Gottman Method here. I incorporate other methods, such as Play Therapy and Expressive Arts as well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I hold true that humans are multidimensional beings who are molded by biological, psychological, relational, cultural, and spiritual experiences. I believe that each individual has the potential to create change in their own lives, sometimes all it takes is a safe and empowering relationship to encourage it.
