About My Clients

I have extensive experience working with clients with trauma supporting them through the recovery process. In addition to trauma and PTSD, I'm passionate about supporting clients navigating major life transitions. I also have experience and expertise in working with clients with bipolar disorder, providing coping skills, and symptom management. Finally, I work with many client experiencing depression and anxiety. I utilize somatic work to help clients learn how their body responds to anxiety.

My Background and Approach

As a licensed clinical social worker associate with specialized training in EMDR and a trauma-informed approach, I bring unique skills to supporting my clients. My journey to this role began with earning my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Denver. Prior to my current role as a licensed clinical social worker associate, I gained valuable experience as a registered nurse (RN). This background has equipped me with a holistic perspective that I bring to my counseling work. I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a highly effective, evidence-based therapy that heals trauma. In addition to EMDR, I draw upon many other therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance commitment therapy. I foster a collaborative partnership that honors client individual experiences, values, and readiness for change. Ultimately, my approach is centered in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every human being has basic human rights which include the right to mental and physical health care. I believe that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. Basic human rights are inclusive of all identities, cultures, and spiritual/religious beliefs. I strongly believe that trauma informed care is a prerequisite to providing any level of care. As a therapist, I believe that my collaboration with a client has a goal of empowering my client. I help provide directions to navigation but the client decides the destination. I believe in client resilency and that to a large extent therapy should focus on client strengths and ability to heal. I believe in client advocacy in the form of transparency of care and utilizing evidence-based care and modalities that feels right with the client. I believe in the power of client-therapist collaboration that validates the dignity and unique qualities and potentials of the client.
