About My Clients
I will collaborate with you to create a tailored approach based on your unique needs. My goal is to help you develop healthy relationships with yourself and others, the ability to experience the full spectrum of human emotion, and an invigorated approach to your life, in whatever phase or situation you currently find yourself. My practice is inclusive and welcoming to all.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles. Since that time, I have ongoingly participated in advanced trainings in areas that include modern analytic group therapy, eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I am a member and past chair of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute (NPI), which is an organization of mental health professionals from all disciplines. I am currently serving as president of the newly formed Nashville Group Psychotherapy Society (NGPS), which is a local chapter of the American Group Psychotherapy Society, whose purpose is to support the development of high-quality group therapy resources in our area.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship can provide the context for transformative healing and growth. I work with people both individually and in groups who feel stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, who desire healing from the impact of trauma and neglect, as well as those who are making important transitions in their lives. I believe all people deserve care, respect, and compassion, and that the personal challenges you face need to be understood within the context of the social and economic environments that surround you. I believe that the demands of modern society often lead to isolation and exhaustion, and that we can achieve greater well-being by learning and healing together with others. My passion for group therapy has grown over the years as I have witnessed again and again the growth and energy that can come from engaging meaningfully and purposefully with others, especially in areas that are personally challenging.
