About My Clients
I am passionate about providing DBT and CBT for those with eating disorders, personality disorders, PTSD/trauma and suicidal behaviors/NSSI. I work with those as young as 5 years old as well as adolescents, transition age youth and adults. I also provide diagnostic evaluations of personality disorders and provide diagnostic clarification for those seeking more information about their symptoms. I am proud to say I provide gender affirming care and am LGBTQI+ aligned.
My Background and Approach
Dr. Ulmer completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PsyD) at La Salle University in Philadelphia. She has a wide range of clinical experience which includes working with children, teens, and adults with emotion dysregulation and behavioral dysregulation, relationship issues, suicidal thinking, substance abuse issues and difficulty with life transitions. Dr. Ulmer is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which identifies unhelpful thinking patterns and how they impact your feelings and behaviors as well as mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches. She also utilizes motivational interviewing concepts to meet individuals where they are at in terms of their readiness to make changes in their life. Dr. Ulmer is also intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, a treatment helps people learn to control their emotions and reduce maladaptive behaviors. She has experience in training in providing exposure therapy and Trauma Focused CBT to treat trauma in both adults
