About My Clients
My clients are parents, educators, high achievers, educators, teens, and people who need support navigating emotional and life challenges. I have a deep passionate for helping people with depression, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, crises of identity, and complex life experiences.
My Background and Approach
Chris holds a B.A. in English from Kansas State University (2001) and an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Pittsburg State University (2008). He also completed three years of doctoral studies in Counseling and Educational Development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2008-2011). Go Spartans! Chris is trained in self-leadership, somatic techniques, and developmental approaches to human growth. His work is rooted in Education, Leadership Development, Lifespan Wellness, and Humanistic and Narrative approaches, using Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and solution-focused strategies to help clients identify strengths, navigate challenges, and set meaningful goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe that everyone has the potential to thrive and that counseling can be a powerful tool in creating a life filled with wellness and fulfillment. My goal is to show up for you, to be a supportive and warm counselor. I will actively work to create a trusting relationship, which is the cornerstone of my approach, ensuring that every client feels respected, heard, and supported no matter their challenges. I draw from the counseling approaches cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies, integrating experiential learning and developmental methods while encouraging reflection on both personal and community values. I hold the belief that all people possess inherent worth, beauty, and the capacity for a meaningful, fulfilling life.
