About My Clients
My clients often have experienced complex trauma. I enjoy working with folks who have experienced trauma because it is incredible to see the healing, change, and growth that occurs in therapy for my clients. I feel honored to be a part of that process in an open, non-judgmental way.
My Background and Approach
I’m a licensed professional counselor, LPC-MHSP. I received my Ph.D. in clinical counseling in 2014, my Master’s in counseling in 2009, and Bachelor’s in psychology in 2007. My dissertation was in the area of sex trafficking. I’ve worked in a variety of settings: community mental health, domestic violence recovery, substance abuse recovery, a children’s advocacy center, and private practice, among other things. My varied experience has helped me to be a better counselor and to understand the spectrum of mental health, especially as it relates to trauma and privilege.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an ally of the LGBTQ community, as many people I love are a part of the community. I believe Black lives matter. I believe in counseling that is not religious in orientation. I believe in the health at every size perspective. I also believe humor is both a coping mechanism for trauma and a vital healing property. I also highly value working with adoptees and NPEs, as I am a donor conceived person myself.
