About My Clients

Our society places so much pressure on the individual to figure their life out and succeed and ignores the severely lacking systems that can negatively impact one's mental and physical health. If you are feeling shame, stigma, or the overwhelming fear of when the next shoe is going to drop, I look forward to standing next to you and supporting you. This space will be for you and I will always uplift your autonomy and self-determination as we work through struggles.

My Background and Approach

My experience lies in working with individuals experiencing discrimination and shame due to their identities. I've worked primarily with clients who are HIV+ and are a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Throughout my time, I have always helped clients who are going through intense periods of emotional dysregulation, interpersonal issues, and burnout. My approach lies in using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe with a blend of these therapies, we can cultivate an atmosphere where mindfulness, emotional regulation, self-confidence, and coping skills are strengthened. As well as my Master of Social Work, I have also earned a Master of Public Health. Throughout my time in the program, my work revolved around the negative mental health outcomes of weight stigma, which runs rampant in our society. I am also passionate about working with clients struggling with anti-fat attitudes.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have a lived experience of being a member of the LGBTQ+ and the struggles that come along with being openly queer in our world today. I have seen and experienced how the treatment of queer people and internalized homophobia can weigh an individual down. As a white woman, I am very aware of the privilege I hold in this world. I believe in ensuring that knowledge is addressed in sessions with clients and combatting that privilege by prioritizing my clients' experiences and perspectives are the loudest in the room. As a therapist, I do not believe I can best advocate for my clients without doing advocacy in my personal life as well. I work from a trauma-informed, harm-reduction, and abolitionist framework as well to make sure the space we share is non-judgemental, inclusive, and socially aware.
