About My Clients
Your teen doesn't seem to be their usual confident, bubbly, and carefree self. As a parent, you just want to see that spark in them again. You notice they are nervous, worried, and overthink things. They are having problems fitting in and making good friends. You even hear them being hard on themselves or very critical. You’re concerned that they will miss out on experiences because of their worries and anxiety. They are losing sleep, seem tense, and are even irritable at times.
My Background and Approach
The teen years are hard but the right support can help. Imagine your teen being confident and sure of themselves. Let’s help them overcome perfectionism and see that they are enough. I can help your teen get out of their comfort zone, stop worrying, and have fun. They will be able to manage anxiety, have healthy friendships, and feel good about being their unique self. I have been practicing therapy since 2013 with a focus on adolescents. I’m passionate about helping young people grow, shine, and reach their goals. I love working with tweens, teens, and young adults. Anxiety and trauma are my specialties. We will work collaboratively to give you and/or your teen the tools they need to manage anxiety. I focus on helping clients understand how their brains and body respond to stress, and then provide strategies and solutions to make those experiences more tolerable. I have advanced training in techniques that will help your teen improve their self-esteem, confidence, and relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship built between therapist and client. We are wounded in relationship, and we are healed in relationship. Safety and trust are paramount, and with teens this process can take time. I value creating an accepting space where your teen will feel seen and heard. I am LGBTQIA+ allied, and support social justice activism within my community. I am an advocate for children and adoptees, and spent my early career working with foster youth. I believe in learning through experience, and have spent many years in group therapy to learn the art of psychodrama, an experiential form of therapy that I am very passionate about. I am one of those rare born-and-raised Floridians from Tampa Bay and live by the phrase, "It's a Bucs Life," when times are tough. Getting started is the hardest part, but we are in this together!
