Does it feel like your life is driven by what you don’t want to feel instead of what’s meaningful to you? Trauma isn’t just what happened to you, but the impact those moments have had inside of you. However, we are also more than the worst things that have happened to us. I believe the relationship you have with yourself and others can be different. We will work to understand the impact of your past while also applying insights and tools to improve your day-to-day experience.
My Background and Approach
I was trained as a generalist and treat a wide variety of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety, and life transitions. I have specialized in the treatment of trauma-related disorders, sexual functioning, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. In treating trauma, I am trained in several research-based treatments, such as EMDR, CPT, and more. I am an AASECT certified sex therapist and provide sex therapy services to address common issues, such as desire discrepancy and sexual shame and can integrate these specialties to address sexuality post-trauma. I am in the process of becoming a certified psychedelic-assisted therapist and am excited about the potential of this new area of my practice. At this time I can also offer integration services following ketamine treatments or personal use of psychedelics and hope to add additional services in the future, pending legislation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe in all individuals' capacity for growth. I find there to be true healing within a therapeutic relationship built on full openness and acceptance. I believe that there is no one right way to live a life and try to focus on helping clients connect to a sense of personal meaning and fulfillment. I am a strong advocate for making space for your feelings rather than piling on skills to avoid. I also find that developing compassion toward oneself and others is the most effective motivator for change.
