About My Clients
*Waitlist for new clients.* My overcontrolled clients tend to have low awareness of emotions and difficulty expressing positive or negative emotions. They often are anxious and depressed, have rigid rules and behavior, delay gratification, and tend to prefer structure and order. They struggle to flexibly respond, and may seem aloof. I treat disorders such as anorexia, anxiety, social anxiety, depression and personality disorders (Avoidant, Obsessive Compulsive, Schizoid, and Paranoid).
My Background and Approach
My approach mainly uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I use Radically Open DBT (RO DBT), and trauma focused processing when needed. I work with clients who experience emotional overcontrol and excessive regulation. Treatment targets openness and flexibility to thoughts, emotions and experiences, and improving social skills. In therapy, we will focus on items such as interpersonal relationships, perfectionism, envy, resentments, cynicism, harsh judgments, eating disorders, addictions, trauma, life adjustments and stressors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in helping clients connect with their community and to reclaim a sense of understanding in themselves. I believe in body positivity, inclusivity and kindness. I hope to improve access to treatment and provide understanding for clients who have felt misunderstood or disconnected. Many overcontrolled clients see themselves as different, and face challenges engaging with friends, family and the community. Through treatment, clients learn skills to consider new perspectives, try new behaviors and engage with others.
