About My Clients
You keep replaying conversations from a week ago over in your head, questioning yourself. You're overwhelmed and exhausted. You feel resentful or unfulfilled even though your life looks good on paper, which makes you feel worse. You're tired of feeling this way and you've wondered if therapy can help (it can!) I help people-pleasers ditch anxiety, say no without feeling guilty, overcome burnout and build satisfying relationships.
My Background and Approach
I believe in an honest, interactive approach to therapy. I'm warm and friendly so I'll laugh with you, but I'll also challenge you. I'll support you and teach you valuable skills you'll use long after our work together is done. My experience includes 12+ years of working in outpatient clinics, hospitals, residential treatment centers for adults and adolescents, and even detox units. I've seen a lot and nothing really surprises me anymore - but I've learned I work best with anxiety, people-pleasing, HSPs, burnout, body image, religious trauma and deconstruction.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we aren't born people-pleasers, it's something we learn how to do, and in order to change it we have to take an honest look at where we learned it and deal with what keeps us stuck. I believe it's possible to recover from people-pleasing, feel less anxious and feel more comfortable in your own skin again because I've done it. I've experienced so much freedom from anxiety and people-pleasing and want that for you, too. I actively participate in community actions that support LGBTQ and women's reproductive rights. I am not religious, but I grew up in a conservative religious home and know what it's like to question and leave religion. I believe humor has a place in therapy, and my goal is to eventually work myself out of the job. Lastly, believe therapy is amazing but only if you're consistent, because you'll only get out of it what you are willing to put in.
