About My Clients
My clients want to find connection in their lives, but they are struggling to do so. I work with people who have found that other therapists don’t quite understand them. I am honored to be the open and non-judgmental professional they are seeking. My clients have faced stigma, limited family support, depression, anxiety or trauma while navigating the complexities of sexuality, gender and relationships. Some have lost important relationships due sexual urges or behaviors that feel out of control.
My Background and Approach
I believe the single most important factor in therapy is the relationship between a person and their counselor. I am passionate about human relationships and sexuality. I take pride in my openness and ability to see the world from your perspective. My experience working in human sexuality has helped me develop a nonjudgmental, person-centered approach. I treat people, not symptoms or behaviors. I approach counseling from a cognitive behavioral perspective. I believe that by learning more about how we think and feel we can learn to influence our behaviors and connections with others for the better. My approach is collaborative and holistic. I offer online counseling throughout NJ and PA. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I have worked in mental health for a decade in roles ranging from case manager to counselor to program director. I graduated from Drew University with my BA in Psychology and John Jay College with my MA in Mental Health Counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone wants to connect with others. Whether it is socially, romantically or sexually, we all strive for basic human connections. This can be highly rewarding but also challenging. I am passionate about helping people to express their sexual identity in a way that is true to themselves. For those in the LGBTQ+ community and those who have struggled with compulsive sexual behaviors there can be unique barriers to human connection which require someone with professional and personal experiences to help them navigate. You may be looking for someone to help you explore, grow and become more comfortable in your own skin. You may be seeking support as you navigate the continual process of ‘coming out’ across your lifetime. You may be seeking help to understand your sexual urges which feel out of your control. Using Cognitive Behavior Therapy through a person-affirming lens, I will help you to identify your goals and take steps toward achieving them.
