My Background and Approach

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University, my M.S. from Palo Alto University, and my B.A. from New York University. While at NYU my individualized major explored the impact of childhood trauma on identity formation, resiliency, and mental health. Additionally, I worked closely with a professor to explore the psychological impact of cults. During my doctorate degree I specialized in mindfulness and LGBTQ+ psychology for both research and psychotherapy. My doctoral dissertation research focused on the mental health of plurisexual adults (e.g. bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, etc.) I have specialized clinical training in providing therapy to queer, transgender, and gender diverse adults. I also have provided trainings and workshops to other mental healthcare providers on working with clients who are transgender, nonbinary, and/or a sexual minority. I have primarily worked with adults over the past 6 years. Visit my website at: UniquelyYouTherapyCollective.Com

My Values as a Therapist

My therapy approach is firmly rooted in social justice, anti-oppression, Health at Every Size, trauma-informed, and intersectional feminist theories. I strive to create a compassionate and non-judgmental atmosphere in which your identities feel seen and valued. I hope to work collaboratively to create goals to guide our work together and find skills to help navigate life’s challenges and your emotions more effectively. Additionally, I often work with folks to explore and make sense of larger systems impacting your lived experience (ex. racism, ableism, white supremacy, homophobia/biphobia, colorism, sizeism, capitalism, transphobia, etc.). This often involves exploration of how stress, anxiety, trauma, and depression may be a result of or worsened by these oppressive systems. Together, the therapy space can be a place to rest, reflect, and just be yourself. For folks familiar, I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT, and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
