In 2019 I began using hypnosis to help anxious clients relax. Over time, sessions took on a distinctly linear narrative, but the content was staged in the past. The proverbial cobblestone streets & thatched roofs. I was intrigued by both the content & cathartic experiences clients were having, so I sought out courses & obtained a certification in Dolores Cannons' method of past life regression (she performed PLR for nearly 40 years). Regardless of belief, the sessions are always intense.

Gestalt Therapy focuses primarily on the mind-body connection & grounding yourself in the present moment. Most clients, despite their varying symptoms, are in someway disconnected from their physical body. This is a rudimentary defense mechanism we're all equipped with. When we feel negatively emotionally, we attempt to disconnect from that unpleasant sensation by escaping into our own mental world, or through some type of distracting/mind-numbing behavior.

Many of our issues are pre-linguistic, meaning that our feelings can't really be explained verbally. This makes understanding how we feel about things really convoluted. To process & make some sense out of these emotions, we look at the physical sensations of the body & our own internal symbolism. Our unconscious mind is always communicating to us through dreams, fantasies, day dreams & physical sensations. Depth therapy is about learning to pay attention to what's going on beneath the surface.

In hypnotherapy we interact directly with the unconscious mind. It's an opportunity to delve into our dreamscape, but consciously awake. In doing so, we can uncover unconscious causes to emotions states, thought patterns, and problematic behaviors. All too often clients express to me that they feel troubled, but have no conscious idea why. Hypnotherapy is a fantastic tool within these circumstances to not only get answers, but to relieve these emotional burdens.
