About My Clients
If you have ever thought, "I never fit in," or "Why doesn't anyone understand me?" then I would like to work with you. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+, and Neurodivergent, folks on issues related to ADHD, depression and trauma. I also enjoy working with clients that have special interests related to comics, gaming, tabletop games and other "nerdy" fandoms. Utilizing your passions in our work will make it more interesting, and effective.
My Background and Approach
I will not be instructing you on how to feel better. I will be partnering WITH you. After all, you are the expert on your own life. I utilize a number of evidenced based treatments but I also personalize and tailor the work I do with you based upon your identified needs, interests, and goals. I often utilize art, exercise, mindfulness and gaming in my sessions. I'm trained in a number of treatment modalities and particularly skilled at working with individuals with trauma, ADHD, and depression. You will be an active participant in your treatment planning, and measuring your progress. I see you as an invaluable source of knowledge about what has or has not helped you before. When you feel too close to the situation I hope to be able to help you have compassion for yourself and "zoom out" to look at the larger picture. Maybe individual therapy isn't your thing? That's okay! I also offer therapeutic tabletop roleplaying game groups (like Dungeons & Dragons).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that systems are in place to maintain the status quo and make it more difficult for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, and disabled folks to succeed. Adversity and feeling like "the other" causes distress and causes or worsens mental illness. I also believe that all people have innate strengths that, when utilized, can help protect them from bias and discrimination. When these strengths are recognized and utilized they can help individuals realize their dreams and goals. Whether you are an exceptionally good writer, an ambitious video gamer, or an excellent listener, I hope to help you call upon your strengths to meet YOUR goals and help YOU feel better. I'm Pan, Neurodivergent and a self-described nerd or geek. I use evidenced based practices and particularly love utilizing my client's various fandoms and interests to make therapy more accessible.
