About My Clients
You feel powerless, overwhelmed, and alone. You replay a list of perceived failures: the lack of courage to ask your partner for help around the house or the rage after a disagreement with a parent. Perhaps you overcompensated at work to make up for a sick day or laughed off a friend's hurtful comment instead of being honest. You ask yourself questions like "What's wrong with me? Why am I such a coward? Why do I care about others opinions so much?" If you relate, you're not alone.
My Background and Approach
Shame may be the “something” that prevents you from taking charge of your life. I believe shame originates from chronic exposure to attachment trauma, systemic oppression & marginalization, and environmental failure. I view shame as an unconscious adaptation to trauma that may have helped you maintain connection with your caregiving environment, or even helped you survive. Working with the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) and other trauma-informed practices, therapy with me emphasizes consent. NARM is a therapeutic approach that focuses on healing developmental trauma by addressing the deep-seated patterns of disconnection created by early childhood attachment issues, working with both the mind and body to establish healthy self-regulation and relationships; essentially, it aims to help individuals understand how their adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) impact their present behaviors and emotions by exploring the connection between their nervous system and relational patterns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strive to bring humanity into the therapeutic space through my relational and trauma-informed approach and commitment to an anti-oppressive and feminist practice. By supporting individuals in reconnecting with their hearts and exploring the challenges to following their internal voice, I hope to support my clients in claiming their personal power to live a life in which their heart and head align, to live in their “flow.”
