About My Clients

My specialty is working with youth on body image,self-esteem, anxiety, healthy relationships, wellness, and depression issues. I work from a strengths based, humanistic, and client centered approach with all my clients. I currently offer group therapy, individual, and family therapy. I utilize Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, sand play, expressive arts, play therapy,Mindfulness, Humanistic, Interpersonal, Animal Assisted Therapy, and Nature Based Therapy.

My Background and Approach

I have been working with children, youth, and families in a Social Work capacity for 15+ years. I have worked in schools, domestic violence shelters, residential, child welfare, and as an outpatient therapist in mental health clinics since 2013. I have worked with a variety of issues including: depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse/neglect, families in the foster care system, and adoption. I believe the most healing connection for people are through animals and nature. I am starting this new practice combining a mixture of out of the box services for youth including nature, community based, and Animal Assisted therapy. I have been doing traditional in the office therapy for almost 10 years with kids and families. Since the pandemic, I think we all need a break from screens, get outside, and connect with others and nature. I feel animals are the best little therapists because they are nonjudmental, unconditionally loving, and help to regulate and calm our nervous systems.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I have been an avid animal advocate, vegetarian, and human rights activist since I was a child. I have always had a passion to speak up and advocate for those who did not have a voice. I have had bunnies and cats for most of my life and consider them to be the best medicine. As we know from the research shows people live longer if they have a pet, they help to lower blood pressure, and give people a reason to get up in the morning. They can help calm people with trauma and help keep them regulated. I have come up with this practice after 2 years of telehealth and everyone feeling disconnected, isolated, anxious, scared, lonely, and depressed etc. for youth to get connected to one another, learn how to socialize again, learn how to regulate, get up, and move their bodies in nature! Part of the mission of the practice is to donate back to the animal non-profits we partner with.
