About My Clients
I work closely with individuals who have experienced trauma and live with PTSD. I also enjoy supporting people living with addiction, depression, and anxiety. By utilizing evidence-based practices such as EMDR, CBT, and others, healing is possible. I am a strong diagnostician and have often helped people find clarity and a diagnosis after years of feeling lost or not making progress. Let's get you unstuck and feeling better!
My Background and Approach
I have obtained additional certification and training in chemical dependency treatment (addictions) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to augment my education. I am trained in EMDR and am currently obtaining the secondary level of training certification. I have worked in emergency rooms, hospital inpatient facilities, intensive outpatient programs, and jails. This means I have worked closely with individuals struggling with a transitional experience of anxiety, all the way to those living with schizophrenia. In all of these settings, I've encountered one constant: trauma. As such, I'm constantly building on my knowledge and skills to support people in effectively processing and growing from their traumatic experiences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all behavior makes sense; As adaptive humans, we're constantly making the best choices we can given our lens, experiences, education, and resources. If I had lived the life that my client has experienced, I would be making similar choices because we are all doing the best that we can. I support clients by expanding their knowledge, experiences, and resources to make more valuable and effective choices in their behaviors and thoughts while providing deep empathy and understanding. I don't believe shame, judgment, or anger effectively mobilizes people to change; thus, it is not part of my therapeutic approach.
