About My Clients
Many of my clients are facing a crossroads when they begin therapy - embarking on parenthood, rethinking career choices; both craving and dreading a change. They are often struggling with anxiety in its many forms - panic, OCD, perfectionism, phobias, avoidance, etc. I also offer neurodiversity-affirming psychological assessments for adults exploring possible diagnoses or seeking better understanding of their emotional functioning and neurotype strengths and challenges.
My Background and Approach
I see my role as that of a warm, authentic, and caring confidante and a non-judgmental sounding board. We'll start by establishing a relationship of trust and collaboration. From there, I can guide you experimenting with new ways of approaching your challenges. I also hope to help you cultivate a deeper compassion for yourself and the world around you so you can break free from avoidance, perfectionism, and resentment. I have been told my style is one of warmth, ease, and compassion. I strive to bring authenticity, non-judgement and gentle humor to my work. I welcome and affirm people from all backgrounds and identities into my practice. I earned both my master’s and doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon. My graduate research focused on the impact of gender roles on mental health. I have experience in community mental health, university counseling, substance use treatment, and emergency department consultation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I practice what I preach when it comes to work-life balance, so when I'm not working, you'll likely find me playing outside with my family, developing my green-thumb, singing with a community choir, indulging my sweet-tooth, or enjoying some good historical fiction. As someone who came later in life to embracing a queer identity, I have been warmly welcomed into LGBTQ spaces and strive to extend that same warmth to others, whether they are firmly grounded in their identities or exploring shifts in them. I value body-positivity, sex-positivity, antiracism, feminism, anti-ableism, trans rights, queer rights, safety, equity, inclusion, and nonviolence. I hold myself and my communities accountable for dismantling systems of oppression both internally and externally and seek knowledge and experiences to move in that direction.
