About My Clients
At GIA, our clients often have some significant challenges to overcome - depression, anxiety, problems with romantic partners or family, life changes, or internal struggles. And any trauma or loss doesn’t help. While therapy can mean confronting difficult feelings, it can also be a space for curiosity, creativity, and self-discovery, which many of our clients have described as rewarding and, believe it or not, exciting and fun. We welcome children and teens, adults, couples, and families.
My Background and Approach
Our therapists incorporate neuroscience-informed strategies like Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These practical, research-backed approaches help facilitate changes. But therapy is more than just science... It's also an art. Feeling safe and understood - critical to mental and emotional well-being - is far more nuanced and interpersonal. As relational therapists, we know that clicking with a therapist who “gets” you – one you trust can help you - is the foundation for successful therapy. To ensure the best possible match, we'll schedule a consultation to discuss your specific needs and preferences. We'll consider your cultural background, identity, goals, and financial situation to connect you with a therapist who is the ideal fit.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I view many problems as manifestations of disturbances in relationships. We often cling persistently to the past, where our earliest interactions created templates for future relationships. These templates can be filled with distorted beliefs and expectations of ourselves and others. Therapy can help undo the effects of these earlier damaging interactions - by recognizing such patterns when they become enacted, identifying the ramifications of old patterns, and practicing new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
