About My Clients
I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ individuals. My areas of focus include sexuality, anxiety, identity, relationships, life-transitions, and depression. I particularly love working with individuals to build a newfound sense of confidence, trust, and self-love.
My Background and Approach
I genuinely believe that therapy is one of the best gifts you can give yourself and your relationships. I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Denver. I went to Colorado College for my undergraduate work, where I majored in Sociology. I believe it’s important to understand individuals within the many systems, roles, patterns, and narratives in which they operate. Consequently, I take a holistic and contextual approach to therapy. I want to know your sources of pain - but I also want to know what you value, what has shaped you, where you draw inspiration, your beliefs, and how you feel in your own body. It’s important to remember that insight into your pain is helpful, but it’s not always enough. We’ll be working to achieve sustainable behavior-change that can have a profound impact on how you feel and the ways you show up in the world. For every person, our work will look different.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a queer cis-woman and I know how the field has historically overlooked the specific and unique challenges that face the LGBTQIA+ population. I’m passionate about working with the queer community and honoring the inherent strengths and opportunities that exist across variations of gender, sexuality, and relationships. Therapy is hard work, and I’ll challenge you, but I also believe it can be fun. I enjoy bringing laughter and creativity into the process. I meet my clients with compassion, curiosity, and an open-mind. My hope is that you will be honest, motivated, and courageous in our work together.
