About My Clients
If you're dealing with a hurricane of depression, body image issues, and trauma, while also caring for others in a helping profession or as a parent I see you. Competing demands including career, community leadership, parenting, and dealing with trauma from the past may be pulling you in so many different directions simultaneously that it feels overwhelming. I want to be here for you to listen and understand your perspective and help you develop skills to build the valuable life you want.
My Background and Approach
Understanding ourselves and how to effectively relate to and talk about how we are feeling and functioning is so important as humans, so I have spent a lot of time in training and practice so I can help guide you on this journey of emotional and interpersonal growth. I often use mindfulness skills, where we practice paying attention to our thoughts and feelings with acceptance instead of judgement, and relational skills like learning how to more effectively listen and understand loved ones while also developing the ability to express one's own feelings and needs more clearly. We might also explore the roots of depression or traumatic stress symptoms and identify more helpful ways to think about and process thoughts, emotions, and sensations that might be keeping us stuck.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Nurturing healthy relationships is close to my heart. I volunteer with a mom's group here in Aurora and love connecting with fellow moms of all ages with kids of all ages and encouraging them in the difficult and worthy work of loving and caring for their families. Healthy relationships at work and in the community are also very important to me, and I enjoy working with medical professionals including veterinarians, military and first responders, folks in ministry, and teachers - the folks who are constantly investing in the health of our communities and may have a hard time investing in themselves.
