About My Clients
I specialize in working with adults, teens, adolescents, women and LGBTQIA+ clients. I also work with individuals in all life stages, families and couples. I have several years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse/trauma.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in treating trauma and PTSD including complex PTSD (C-PTSD). I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a powerful and effective treatment for trauma. I am also trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and incorporate both these approaches to help clients heal from the impact of trauma and move forward with their lives. I believe that you are the expert when it comes to your needs and goals for therapy. I use a strengths-based approach that encourages you to access the abilities and resources you have to promote healing. In addition to treating trauma, I have experience working with multiple concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, bipolar disorder, and psychosis.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the importance of understanding and addressing the impact of inequity and intersectionality on mental health and approach my work from this framework. I am committed to working towards racial justice, social justice, and environmental justice in my personal and professional life. I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and believe in the importance of cultural competency and cultural humility in my work. I am involved in social justice groups in my community. I am also an animal lover and believe in the healing power of animals and nature. In my free time, you can find me hiking with my dog or rock climbing outside.
