About My Clients
You are a teen girl or woman struggling trying to navigate women's health issues like chronic illness and chronic pain, postpartum/perinatal issues, pregnancy loss or infertility. You feel so much anxiety about the future and feel isolated in your pain. You've been striving for perfection and feel like a failure with plans derailed and lack of control over your day to day. You are feeling stuck in your grief. My clients are ready to get tools to stop simply surviving each day and start thriving.
My Background and Approach
I utilize third wave trauma informed Cognitive Behavioral techniques (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy techniques (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) , somatic & mindfulness tools to help my clients better manage women's health issues, grief, anxiety and depression. Trauma informed CBT techniques allow us to retrain our thought patterns and lean into more helpful automatic thoughts. DBT tools help us manage distressing emotions and overwhelming feelings that come with women's health issues in healthy ways. Nervous system psychoeducation and somatic exercises help ground our bodies and calm our nervous system. Mindfulness techniques rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy allow us to acknowledge all emotions we are feeling, sit with our grief and pain and increase feelings of acceptance in the midst of difficult situations. Kelsey earned her Master's degree at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 2017.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Why did I niche in women’s health? Well, I've been there. I understand the impact of women’s health issues on your mental health as I endured my personal experience of searching for an accurate diagnosis, undergoing many surgeries and various treatments from my teenage years through adulthood. I saw the need for mental health counseling experts in the field of women's health who truly understand the relationship of your health and anxiety, depression and grief and loss. My goal is to help my clients feel less alone, more supported and cared for during a dark season. Finally, I strive to give tools to each of my clients in order for them to get to a place of more acceptance, peace and hope.
