About My Clients
For some of my clients, therapy feels like a last-ditch effort to find relief from a life that has become too painful and overwhelming to endure. For others, it is a chance to finally address an issue in their personal life or their relationships that has been bothering them for a long time but that has been difficult to name or understand on their own. In either case, I can help you find lasting change by expanding your sense of who you are and the freedom with which you live your life.
My Background and Approach
Anxiety, depression, and trauma create lasting wounds that sever our abilities to connect with our selves and others. We get stuck in patterns of thinking, relating, and behaving that cause us great pain, but we can't imagine living any other way. What we need is a relationship--a relationship that allows us to encounter our self and others in a new way. That is what I provide in therapy. In my relational and depth-oriented approach, I strive to welcome the fullness of who my clients are into a therapeutic space characterized by warmth, authenticity, and acceptance. I help you slow down the patterns that have been cluttering your mind long enough for you to see them in a new light and begin to change them. By empowering you to recognize your ability to make new choices in the present, I help you to live a life that is more free and aligned with your genuine sense of who you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe lasting psychological change occurs through relationships. I believe people are complex, and I believe most people go through their lives without ever slowing down to reflect on who they are and how they really want to live. I don't yet know what that change will look like for you. I don't know what your suffering has been like. But I am confident in my ability to work with you to create a genuine relationship that will allow us to encounter your suffering and what change means for you together.
