About My Clients
Got ADHD? Got Anxiety? Me too… As a late ADHD-er/neurodiverse person I know how complicated things can be. It's overwhelming, lonely, leads to burn out and negative thoughts like “I’m not good enough”. I've worked 12 years in the mental health field with adults on issues of anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and burnout with the goal of partnering with people on their quest of improving self-esteem, learning coping skills, combating negative thoughts, and figuring out that balance of acceptance and change.
My Background and Approach
I believe in a person-center approach where I am not the expert...you are. You are the expert on your own life and I am just honored to be partnering with you on this chapter. I love using evidence based treatments, using metaphors, pop culture references, and whatever is personally relevant to you to find real world practical solutions and tools that can use in everyday life. I use an eclectic approach to pick skills from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, ACT (and more) so I can 'sprinkle' them into our conversation effectively meeting you where you are at and making things personally relevant for you. I have a special passion for neurodivergent individuals and have taken several trainings to increase my competency to be a Neurodiverse Affirming Therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As your therapist, and partner on this journey, we start where you are at, working together to unravel mental health, stigma, relationship issues, trauma, life transition and more. You are not a diagnosis or a number and your treatment shouldn't be either. I love making things personally relevant for clients because so often we expect everyone to fit into a mold...that's just not possible and causes more trauma. I am a crocheter and knitter with a million works in progress, I love continuing education and more often than not will sign up for trainings to make sure I am learning all the things for my clients, I'm a passionate individual who wants the best for my clients and works hard to practice what I preach.
