About My Clients
I see many clients who feel stuck and unable to alter their life in a way that reflects their values, causing them to feel sad, on edge, or numb. They are suffering a great deal, and often their needs seem unclear. This can look like constant worrying, dreading the future, or being caught up in the past. I use a frank and kind style to empower clients to find meaning and hope as they navigate the complicated, often oppressive systems of our world.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist (PSY34385) seeing clients in-person and via telehealth in the Los Angeles area and throughout the state of California. In my practice I provide compassionate and queer-affirming care through evidence-based practices to help individuals discover their inner wisdom and make the changes they want in life. My overall goal with clients in individual therapy is to create conditions in which a person can explore the change they want in a safe and affirming context. I take a kind and direct stance to help individuals uncover patterns—which often feel unclear or difficult to articulate at the beginning—that may be restricting them from fully experiencing life. Once the goals for treatment become clear, I help individuals chart a way forward to a more flexible and expansive way of living.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy can seem like a mysterious endeavor from the outside, from knowing what constitutes good therapy to the often confusing search for a therapist. I believe that therapy should be fully transparent from the start, from what to expect with treatment to understanding the mechanisms behind any important shifts throughout the process. My therapy work centers the real sociocultural factors that influence us all, and in particular impact folks with marginalized identities. I bring this understanding into my work alongside the clinical expertise I utilize to help clients connect to meaning and ease their suffering. I am convinced that good therapy must take into consideration both structural and individual factors--all the while charting a real path towards values-aligned goals--in order to be effective.
