About My Clients
So often, the stories we believe about ourselves were given to us by other people. And most of the time, these stories were not actually meant to serve us, but to serve the people around us. This split from our truth creates symptoms of self-doubt, anxiety, shame, depression, loneliness, body-hate, people pleasing, chronic burn-out, and more. In our work together, we'll dig out the stories that no longer serve you, and create space for authenticity, belonging, and connection to take root.
My Background and Approach
I received a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from The Seattle School. I was trained in Relational Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, which is a method of treatment grounded in depth psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, and the sacredness of the therapeutic relationship. Fundamentally, I believe what has been broken in relationship must be healed in relationship, and this primary belief impacts all other aspects of my approach. My primary modalities include attachment theory, re-parenting & inner child work, and nature-based somatic therapy. Though the foundation of my training is talk therapy, I believe our bodies often need more than a conversation to heal deeply, especially when trauma is concerned. Therefore, sessions are always client-led, and I utilize a wide variety of somatic and art therapy based techniques, including outdoor sessions, to address the holistic and varying needs of the client.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My ethics & beliefs: Everyone has a right to heal. You are the expert of your own healing. You are not broken, damaged, or in need of fixing. You are so much more than a diagnosis. Healing is both personal AND systemic. I will do my best, and still get it wrong. My work as a therapist must be anti-racist, regardless of who the client is. Gender is a construct, and love is love.
