About My Clients
We queer folks navigate the world differently from cis-het individuals, and with that comes both unique challenges and a profound sense of beauty. While I work with folks of all identities, including cis-het folks, my specialty lies in supporting queer, trans, and gender-diverse individuals. My goal is to create the safest, most affirming, and empowering space possible—where you can explore your authentic self without fear or judgment.
My Background and Approach
My approach to therapy is insight-oriented, laid back, collaborative, compassionate, and warm. I believe that our past creates the lens through which we see the world, including the way we view others and interact in relationships. What do you say we examine those lenses, understand how they came to be, and polish them up so they can help you see more clearly and better serve you? Together, we will work toward a deeper sense of connection with yourself and others, we will work to foster more freedom and choice in how you live, and most generally, we will work together to help you live more fully and intentionally. I will be your steady source of support through it all.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as a white, queer, cisgender woman. I recognize that the identities that we hold impact the way in which we navigate the world. Often, people are capable of much more than we settle for, and society can stifle our ability to live up to this potential. In taking this into consideration, I endeavor to empower you and help you to work toward your potential and happiness. My clinical work has been heavily influenced by my social justice and anti-oppression values. I seek to empower my clients by exploring how dynamics of power, privilege, and oppression have shaped their lives and/or resulted in trauma. I am on an un-ending journey to do better and be better for my clients, both personally and as a therapist. I strive for cultural humility and to provide the most culturally-responsive services. I am part of the clinical team at the Aguirre Center for Inclusive Psychotherapy, which specializes in providing anti-oppressive services.
