About My Clients
I work with clients coping with anxiety or depression rooted in OCD, perfectionism, challenging family dynamics, work/life imbalance, religious trauma, or being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. I enjoy working with women and NB individuals who struggle with the cultural norms forced upon them. I have experience supporting clients to identify and work with their ND characteristics - including those who believe they may have undiagnosed ADHD or Autism. I am LGBTQIA+ allied.
My Background and Approach
Together we will dedicate time and space to addressing the challenges you’re facing, and look at how they affect your ability to live the life you want to live. I will work with you to feel more at peace, whether that be through managing and alleviating distressing symptoms, renewing motivation and passion for life, or supporting you as you work on advocating for yourself and your needs. In order to achieve those goals, I use a number of different techniques that I've learned throughout my career and tailor them to each individual client. I love helping clients to identify the strategies that work for them, so that you can see tangible differences in your mental health. Because the field of mental health is always evolving, I am continually attending trainings, reading books, and consulting with colleagues to expand my knowledge in the service of my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I humbly strive to bring anti-racist and anti-biased perspectives and practices into my personal and professional life. I have worked to educate myself about the fat acceptance, HAES, and body positivity/neutrality communities. As a student of Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings for over 15 years, I bring mindfulness into my work when appropriate. I am neurodiversity affirming, and focus much of my professional development on increasing my knowledge of how neurodivergence shows up in adult women and the ways I can support my ND clients. If you've ever been told "you can't be autistic, you make eye contact!" or had your parent scoff at the idea that you're ADHD, I may be the right therapist for you. I also focus professional development on continued training and peer consultation in Inference-based CBT for OCD, a non-exposure, evidence-based treatment which is a great alternative to ERP. Don't worry if this is all alphabet soup to you - I'm happy to answer questions in a consultation call!
