About My Clients

I push partners to connect more deeply with one another, and to understand more about what they need and desire from each other. Clients tell me that my ability to hold space for each of their perspectives and “translate” their experiences to one another helps them overcome the barriers they feel in communication. I am most successful with clients who want to increase their understanding of their situation, who are willing to change and grow, and who are open to being accountable.

My Background and Approach

I am a marriage and family therapist through and through. My brain can't help but see the world in the context of relationships and systems. I hold a Master's Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy and am licensed as a marriage and family therapist in Illinois, Washington, Oregon, and Arizona. My training and approach are rooted in emotionally focused therapy, internal family systems, and the Gottman method. I additionally use an ongoing lens of trauma informed perspective and am a trauma-competent provider. I have additional training in perinatal mental health. I also work regularly with neurodiverse couples and am neurodiversity affirming.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am supportive and affirming of intimate relationships of all monogamous and consensually non-monogamous structures and all genders, as well as couples who experience neurodiversity; interracial and/or intercultural dynamics; and/or who are healing from complex trauma in their childhood. I am a kink- and poly-friendly provider. I am a white, cis, straight, and able-bodied individual; as such, I believe it's my responsibility as a human and therapist to be aware of how this impacts my interactions and experiences, and to always examine how my identities influence my thinking. I am not fearful of holding myself accountable to questioning and catching my assumptions or mistakes. I am committed to creating the safest place possible in my room through my own education, media exposure, and ongoing self-analysis.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
