About My Clients
My ideal client may identify as BIPOC, first-gen, queer, or someone who feels uncertain about therapy, especially if past experiences left you feeling unseen. You might be dealing with the effects of childhood, intergenerational, or birth trauma, feeling stuck in unhealthy patterns, or struggling with anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. You could also be facing challenges related to infertility, parenthood, or pregnancy.
My Background and Approach
With 5 years of experience as a clinician and doula, I bring a unique blend of therapeutic and practical support to my work. I specialize in helping individuals and couples of color navigate the complexities of childhood and birth trauma, intergenerational trauma, anxiety, depression (including postpartum), and grief and loss, including miscarriage and stillbirth. I understand that, as a first-gen or queer person, you may carry the weight of your family’s expectations, face cultural challenges, or struggle with finding your voice. My approach is grounded in somatic, psychodynamic, and psychoanalytic techniques, allowing us to explore not just thoughts, but also the body’s responses to trauma and stress. My gentle yet direct approach allows us to confront difficult emotions and patterns head-on. I won’t shy away from naming the defenses and barriers that are holding you back, but I’ll do so with compassion, humor, and a genuine desire to see you grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal beliefs and values as a first-gen Black therapist, are deeply rooted in anti-oppressive frameworks and LGBTQ+ advocacy, with a strong commitment to combating anti-Black racism. I believe that therapy should be a decolonized space that honors diverse identities and experiences, challenging the traditional standards that often marginalize certain voices. By prioritizing inclusivity and cultural sensitivity, I strive to create a therapeutic environment where all clients feel seen, valued, and empowered. I make it a priority to avoid boxing clients in or viewing them solely as a diagnosis. Instead, I focus on the whole person, recognizing the complexities of your experiences and identities. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to dismantle societal norms that contribute to oppression, fostering a space that encourages healing, growth, and authentic self-expression.
