About My Clients
My clients prefer telehealth services. Whether they feel more comfortable accessing therapy from home or have difficulty attending "in person" sessions because of chronic and acute health issues, my schedule allows for weekly appointments with little to no wait time. I always keep my caseload small to accommodate my clients needs, so they feel like they can access support whenever they need it. My PsyPact APIT allows me to provide support whether you are at home, away at college, or traveling.
My Background and Approach
Since 1999, I have been providing therapeutic services to individuals (i.e., school-age through adulthood) and their families. Thinking outside the box, integrating my understanding of Clinical Psychology, Learning Disabilities, Health Psychology, and Neuropsychology, has allowed me to create innovative interventions. I believe each individual and family is a unique puzzle and no single intervention works with everyone. I am trained in behavioral management techniques, as well as cognitive-behavioral techniques to help individuals manage their internal thought processes and minimize irrational thoughts. Treatment can take many forms. Some need supportive therapy to address situational issues. Others may need to learn skills to manage overwhelming feeling. With medical issues, individuals may need to learn acceptance of their limitations and pacing in order to maximize their functionality, as well as how to navigate the medical field to get appropriate support for their conditions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Every individual has the right to thrive in our society, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. I have cultural-sensitivity therapy training and a history of helping those with medical and mental health issues advocate for themselves within the schools and workplace. While I never intended to teach, I decided to obtain a Master's in Learning Disabilities so that I could better understand learning differences and the educational system in order to better serve my Psychology clients. I do not shy away from Social Justice issues and, if you want to bring them into the therapy room, they are welcome. Even if our beliefs are not the same, I will not judge, but help you work through the areas that are bothersome to you. Finally, I am proud to identify as part of the Chronic Illness and Single Parent Communities. I also have been a caretaker to family members with medical and mental health concerns.
