About My Clients
I have experience treating people who are seeking help with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, childhood trauma, substance abuse, codependency, relationship problems, work problems, family issues, self-doubt and indecision, low self-esteem, life transitions, illness, grief and loss, feeling lost, and many other issues. I work with adults of all ages, couples, and adolescents and provide therapy in English, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazilian).
My Background and Approach
I spent 6 years working as an immigration interpreter in Spanish and Portuguese for the public defender, asylum applicants, and clients with other immigration concerns. I provided brief psychodynamically-oriented integrative therapy to patients at California Pacific Medical Center, Davies Campus. I completed a one-year postgraduate fellowship at Access Institute for Psychological Services where I was trained in psychoanalytically-oriented psychotherapy. I worked as an in-school therapist at Glen Park Elementary School, SFUSD and George Washington High School, SFUSD. I participate in professional consultation groups and ongoing psychoanalytic trainings.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am someone who is curious about human beings. I am curious about our patterns, thoughts, behaviors, and the internal obstacles that get in the way of our changing things that no longer serve us. For many years, I worked as an immigration interpreter for individuals seeking asylum in the U.S. Hearing those stories and witnessing not only the impact of trauma but also the capacity for human resilience led me to the work I do today. I consider it an immense privilege to be trusted to bare witness to and hold another’s internal world and to think about it with them.
