My Background and Approach
I have a Master's Degree in Addiction Studies specializing in co-occurring mood disorders. I am also a Certified Nutrtionist. I believe that a healthy body = a healthy mind. What we put in our bodies has everything to do with how we feel, operate and think. I draw from years of Mindfulness practices, to alleviate anxiety, negative self-belief, thought rumination and depression. I treat the whole person, and each individual uniquely, knowing there is no magic pill for immediate change. I specialize working with both men and women, helping each to define how they want to show up in their lives. Our culture makes it tough to be something that’s not magazine perfect these days and I create the space to help you explore what being authentically “you” means. I also specialize in family systems and how our family of origin has served as the template for how we relate with others today… and how to change that if it’s not working.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are stronger and more resilient than they think. I know everyone has boundless capacity for change… they just need a map and a few navigational tools to get them where they want to be. When you are low and have a hard time believing in yourself, I will believe in you… not in a Polly Anna sort of way, but in a hard-core, know you can do anything you set your mind to kind of way. Change is hard. You would not be here looking for someone to help you if it were a walk in the park. Just because something is hard, doesn’t mean it’s impossible or we shouldn’t attempt it. It just means you’ll be uncomfortable for a bit… but aren’t you already uncomfortable? Thought so. There’s going to be some discomfort in finding your way to a healthier you. However, this is a different kind of discomfort, one that has the promise of brighter tomorrows and happy todays. Let me help you to uncover your natural resilience and capacity to build the healthy happy life you’ve been seeking.
