Accepting Clients

Hi! My practice style is all about collaboration, the therapist/client relationship. I ensure that relationship is safe, trusting, and open.

Clinical Social Worker in Chicago, IL
Supervised by Dale Roberson, LCSW, CADC, C-DBT

About My Clients

My ideal client is a person or couple that knows, no matter what they bring into a therapeutic space, they are valued, and they are the experts of their own lived experience. When we cross oceans together, you'll be the steering the ship, with me as your navigator. I understand the complex reality of intersectional identity that creates privilege or compounds to reinforce oppression and marginalization. My clients seek to live the best version of their lives and are willing to explore to do so.

My Background and Approach

My approach to therapy is evidence and strengths based. Modalities and theoretical approaches I bring to my work include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-based Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Theory, Integrative, Interpersonal Work, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Psychodynamic approaches. I work with clients dealing with anger, attachment, abandonment, behavioral issues, domestic violence, relationship issues, emotional regulation, grief/loss, insomnia, low self-esteem, body dysmorphia, abuse/neglect, and trauma. Specific conditions I work with include substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, major depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, PTSD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, & personality disorders. My goal is to ensure that you have the tools to handle life's challenges while still achieving your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

To me, being a clinical social worker extends far beyond the four walls of a room or a virtual box. This job is a calling; a need to give back to the greater community by helping anyone who has the courage to ask for it. Today, too many individuals deal with issues or circumstances beyond their control and are then blamed for the outcomes in their lives unjustly. Many of us know the systems in this country are broken. They're set up in a manner that perpetuates systemic racism, anti-LGBTQIA+ rights, and oppression of the "other." Being a country of immigrants, most of us were "the other" at some point in our history. I strive to provide a practice that is a safe space, embracing the uniqueness of each individual as a strength and attempting to bridge the divide between folks, as we have much more in common than society wants us to believe. The truth is that all of us need to be heard, all of us need to be understood, and all of us need one another. That's why I am here for you.
