I am human first, a repressed emo kid, a brain enthusiast, invisibly disabled, a therapist in therapy, and part of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Portland, OR

About My Clients

Goofy goobers. People pleasers. Overthinkers. People with bad therapy experiences or narrow view of therapy. Anyone who has ever been told their emotions are "too big" or are "too much" for people. Intuitives. People who are interested in making friends with their pain rather than fighting. People who understand memes are a love language. The manifesters and meditators who's facial expressions get them in trouble. Big personalities stuck in capitalism. People too afraid to take up space.

My Background and Approach

I use an emotion focused and cognitive based approach. What does that mean? We're going to feel it and then make it make sense. As a social worker, I view every client through the environment they exist in. We do not live in vacuums and our external world influences the internal. I'm trained in several trauma treatment modalities such as TST, TF-CBT, Neurosequential Model, and IFS. This offer us a framework and interventions to address wounds. I also include somatic practices (breath work, movement, yoga animal interventions etc.) which is essential for trauma work to be effective. I consider myself an unconventional therapist, challenging the status quo of what therapy "is" or "isn't". I never ask my clients to try something that I have not experienced as a client already. I love a curious spirit, so bring all your questions! I will make sure you understand interventions, treatment approaches, diagnoses etc.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that social work is political and that power, privilege, and oppression are key parts to every system we encounter. After Mike Brown was murdered in my home town, I intentionally went to schools that taught from a social justice lens. I was able to learn how to use my degree and my privilege to change these systems to be more equitable. As a clinician, I use a systems lens and a trauma lens to teach clients about how their challenges are a direct result of the systems they are living in. I believe that knowledge is power and I am a teacher as much as I am a clinician. I have also been mindful and, admittedly, picky, about agencies I choose to work for. I understand that I have to participate in systems, but I choose to participate in ones that are choosing to be equitable. Finally, I believe that connection is a fundamental human need and the key to healing. Therapy, at it's core, is about connecting and healing within relationship. Without it, therapy doesn't work.
