About My Clients
My clients are trans, non-binary, and queer people who have experienced trauma, survived gender-based harm, or not felt accepted in a vital relationship, often with a caregiver or partner. Sometimes they are healing from a relationship that was clearly traumatic: an abusive partner or violent parent. Other times, childhood just felt confusing, lonely, or hard. And some simply hold an identity that others feel entitled to invalidate and oppress.
My Background and Approach
My approach to our work together will be collaborative and centered on your needs, strengths, and struggles. Clients who work with me often name reducing shame and increasing self-compassion as key components of our therapy’s success and may seek me out for help with feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, grief, depression, overwhelm, or shame. My areas of expertise include supporting those who have experienced interpersonal, systemic, or intergenerational trauma, those contemplating whether or not a current or past relationship was toxic, as well as those who have had challenging, abusive, or neglectful childhoods. I also have more than a decade of experience serving trans, non-binary, gender expansive, and gender non-conforming people of all ages. I am skilled at supporting parents and partners in navigating confusing social and political messages, medical decision-making, and their own inner landscape when someone they love is exploring gender identity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Understanding intersectionality and the role that oppressive systems have played in shaping one's life are cornerstones of how I approach our work together. I utilize an anti-oppressive and relational approach to understand your unique experience in the world, in relationships, and in the therapy room itself. I welcome and value working with people of all genders, racial identities, ethnic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, sizes, and abilities.
