About My Clients
Asking for help and letting someone in can be difficult and even intimidating. You may be looking for someone who can help you reach your mental health goals while also meeting you where you are in your life & mental health journey. I aim to create a space of comfort, safety, & trust in which clients can heal, progress, & develop self-compassion. I work with adults of all ages, across various cultures, ethnicities, religions, romantic/sexual relationship styles, and sexual & gender identities.
My Background and Approach
I view my clients through a person-centered lens, believing each client is the expert on their own life and experiences and approaching clients with empathy, understanding, and non-judgement. I utilize techniques from various therapeutic modalities and strive to individualize my approaches to each client’s needs. I draw most heavily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt Therapy, approaching problems from both “top down” and “bottom up” perspectives by addressing both thought & behavioral patterns and emotional experiences to help clients work through stuck points. I catered my counseling education towards complex trauma, and take a neurodivergence- and trauma-informed approach to therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have "stuck points" that can keep us from growing, healing, reaching our goals, or being content. Oftentimes, these stuck points were created by past situations and the adaptations we developed to cope with them, in the best way we possibly could at that time. My role as a therapist is to help clients identify and work through this stuckness, through emotional processing, thought pattern shifts, and development of coping skills. I aim to cater my therapeutic techniques and communication style to each client's unique and ever-changing challenges and needs. If you would like to set up a free 15min phone consultation to learn more and decide whether we would be a good fit, please message me.
