About My Clients
My clients come to therapy grieving a painful loss (like the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or even the loss of a part of their identity), trying to shift unhelpful patterns or behaviors in their relationships, struggling to adapt to a new life phase (like parenthood, starting college, or a new job), having a hard time managing big emotions, or seeking deeper meaning and connection. I particularly love working with young adults, moms and dads, and LGBTQ+ folks.
My Background and Approach
First and foremost, I aim to make therapy feel safe and comfortable for you. When you and I meet for the first few sessions, as we get to know each other I think about your experiences growing up in your particular family system and how that might continue to impact you. I consider how issues of culture and/or diversity influence your daily life and your struggles. As we begin together to better understand your challenges, I strive to help you learn more about yourself, while also incorporating specific skills that might be useful to you (such as anxiety management, new ideas for self-care, managing big emotions, or more effectively communicating with others). As you develop greater self-awareness and learn new skills through our work together, you gain both the freedom and the tools to make more purposeful decisions about your life and what matters to you most. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Personally, I value challenging myself to take risks to be emotionally vulnerable. Although difficult, I have found that this fosters more authentic connection in many realms of my life. I also know personally from my own life experiences, that it takes immense courage to share your story with others. However, I strongly believe that sharing your story and still being accepted as human is one of the most healing and life-changing parts of therapy. Therefore, I invite you to take a risk in vulnerability and reach out to me! All are welcome to work with me. Born and raised in NYC, I am passionate about serving diverse, multicultural populations. I have extensive experience working with individuals of different ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, cultures, and religions. I also welcome those who do not know exactly what their "goals" are or what they want to work on in therapy. We can work together to figure it out and to put words to your experiences.
