About My Clients
As a therapist, I've discovered many of us share that same story of having few places to turn where we can truly be ourselves and accepted just as we are. Whether it's because of bullying, religion, or body image pressures, we learn to conform and perform in response to the pressure of our world telling us who to be, and we are left ashamed, and exhausted when it becomes too much to maintain. My clients seek therapy to find a life that authentically aligns with their identity and values.
My Background and Approach
In my practice, I work with members of the LGBTQ+ community, those struggling with body image and disordered eating, survivors of bullying, and folks wrestling with religious trauma. Together, we will explore your unique goals, the pain and behaviors that may be holding you back, and how to create satisfying relationships, both with others and yourself. When it comes to therapy, I believe deeply in the power of interpersonal and intrapersonal relationship work in the therapeutic process, and I offer a holistic and integrative approach that honors the mind, body, and spirit. I believe psychotherapy is best described as an interactive and collaborative journey the client and therapist embark on together with the goal of improved mental and emotional health. I offer space for you to be exactly who you are, wherever you're at, so that together, we can discover a life that feels good and enjoyable to live, based on your most authentic values and desires.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe each and every one of us has an important story to tell and deserves a life that feels good and enjoyable to live. I also believe that empathy and self-compassion are antidotes to the shame that keep us from telling those stories completely. When I was growing up, I quickly learned that there were few places I could be truly myself and accepted just as I am. As a therapist, I've discovered many of us share that same story. Through my own lived experience as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I want to help others reclaim their sense of value, worth, and hope in an affirming, unconditionally supportive environment.
