About My Clients
I believe connection to ourselves and others sits at the core of our distress. Whether we are grieving the loss of a loved one, (barely) managing difficult relationships, or feeling lonely, we tend to fall back on coping strategies that we learned early in life. Oftentimes, these coping strategies served a beneficial purpose, but they may now be causing more harm than good. My role is to help you identify new patterns of thought and behavior to help you live a satisfying life.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience working with adults of all ages and am privy to phase-of-life concerns that may impact present distress. My specialty areas of training include sex, relationships, LGBTQ+ identities, and substance use/abuse (particularly chemsex). I invite prospective clients to first consider whether they feel ready to embrace vulnerability with a stance of curiosity and openness. Through facing these difficult emotions, we have the potential to develop deeper, intimate relationships with those we care about.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value authenticity, transparency, and altruism, and these values are reflected in my everyday interactions, therapy work with clients, and my research studies that center and highlight LGBTQ+ identities, kinks and fetishes, and relationship dynamics. My professional interests stem from my personal experiences of living in fear for close to 20 years prior to coming out as gay. Today, I am an active member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I believe community is essential to wellness. I enjoy connecting with folx who light up when discussing their passions, and take a strengths-based approach to help clients mindfully engage with their interests and surrounding environment.
