About My Clients
Are you experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression from living in this difficult world? Perhaps you've experienced your own personal trauma, or are seeking to understand and find joy in identities that the majority population "others" or discriminates against. I enjoy working with people across the lifespan, especially those in the queer community who are seeking relief and are ready to explore ways to show up with more embodied joy and liberation.
My Background and Approach
As a queer therapist, I am dedicated to changing the stigma around mental health from “what is wrong with you” to “what happened to you”. I utilize frameworks and modalities that stem from neuroscience and attachment (such as EMDR and EFT), and I partner with each individual, couple, or family system from an anti-racist, anti-colonial, sex positive, queer, and trans-affirming perspective. I have training in multiple different trauma modalities, and also bring aspects of narrative, sensory motor, and art into my work. No matter the issue or the age, I believe strongly in the need for play and joy in the healing process and work to bring these elements into all my session.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that many of our struggles with mental health stem from the intergenerational trauma that many of our family systems hold. I have also witnessed how systemic oppression, and the perpetuation of white supremacy have impacted people from all walks of life, but especially those that hold minority identities, myself included. For many queer and bipoc folks, the world is an incredibly scary and traumatic place. Finding connection with community, both within the therapeutic space and in our personal lives, is paramount for having skills to navigate the world around us. I also believe strongly in the amazing and beautiful resilience and wisdom that comes from being a person with a minority identity, and these things must be held up and celebrated.
