About My Clients
Are you are realizing that the effects of past trauma, violence or abuse have left things a tangled mess? Are you struggling with how difficult experiences have affected your relationships? Or maybe you belong to a gender, sexual, or relationship minority (e.g., LGBTQ+, kink) and are looking for an affirming provider to support you through whatever life has brought you? I look forward to supporting you in gaining the knowledge and skills to navigate whatever stressors life has brought you.
My Background and Approach
I am trained as a generalist and have worked with clients from lots of different backgrounds who have dealt with a lot of different concerns. I have found that a combination of knowledge, skills, and trial-and-error are necessary components to create change in your life. My flexible approach meets you where you are, focuses on your values so we can work together to untangle the knots life often creates. I have attended a lot of different trainings to build my knowledge and skills so I can better support you in your healing journey. My approach to therapy is evidence-based with a focus on being culturally sensitive, trauma-informed and I focus on combining interpersonal, relationship, mindfulness and acceptance, and behavioral approaches in my work to help you build greater awareness and insight into the steps you want to take in therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I was born and raised in Norway and have lived in the US for over 20 years. I grew up learning to value nature, diversity, and egalitarianism and these continue to be important ways of how I live my life. I am married and my spouse and I parent a 13-year old rat terrier. In my free time, I enjoy reading, video games, arts and crafts, and yoga. Yoga became such an important part of my own healing journey that I even became a registered yoga teacher.
