About My Clients
This wild, painful, beautiful human experience can be a lot to process on our own. It can feel supportive and be empowering to sort it out with a compassionate and collaborative therapist. All humans hold the potential for creative healing engagement with themselves, in relationships, and in the world. I welcome the opportunity to work with clients of all backgrounds and identities; and, I specialize in supporting artist-identified and highly-sensitive clients.
My Background and Approach
I am an artist and writer, and before becoming a therapist, I taught studio art and cultural studies courses at colleges and universities. In my practice working with clients, I draw on psychodynamic humanistic, and trauma-informed approaches to therapy, paired with creative and poetic strategies. Looking through a holistic lens—contexts, systems, identities—always informs the work. I hold a safe and welcoming space to collaborate with you in service of your healing process and unique well-being needs. I show up with empathy and warmth in honor of all your humanness. I am awed by the expansiveness of the human experience, and I celebrate the curiosity and strength that is an innate part of the therapeutic process with all my clients. In our sessions I will be your witness as you bravely engage in self-reflection and foster self-compassion. It is an honor and privilege to work in collaboration with folks diving into the deep for both personal and collective healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the potential of creative expression as a way to engage the healing process, and the power of experiencing diverse forms of art and culture as medicine. I believe in the power of nature as a healing force. I believe that a creative practice can be cultivated with love and respect for oneself, others, and the world. I value sensitivity, and the act of fostering understanding. I believe that mental health care should be accessible to everyone.
